Here's exactly how we price your roof. No hidden costs, no inflated numbers.

We don’t cut corners, we don’t hide costs, and we don’t consider the job finished until it’s perfect. That same standard applies from the very first number we put in front of you.

Most homeowners have no idea how their roofing estimate was calculated. They receive a number, they sign a contract, and they hope for the best. That’s not how CRS operates.

Since 1977, we’ve built our reputation on a simple principle: do the job right the first time. That starts with the estimate. Every line in your estimate corresponds to a specific measurement, material, or condition we found on your roof. You’ll know where every dollar is going before you sign anything.

The tool everyone uses. The transparency nobody else offers.

Here’s something most roofing companies won’t tell you: they’re all using the same software to price your roof. Roofr is the industry standard. Walk into any professional roofing contractor’s office in New Jersey, and there’s a good chance they’re running your numbers through the same platform we use.

However, the software is only half the story. Roofr generates measurements and material quantities based on estimates of your roof’s dimensions from a satellite image. That part is consistent. What happens to those numbers after the software generates them is entirely up to the contractor. Markups get applied. Line items get bundled. Costs get absorbed into a single total, so you can’t see where the money is actually going. The estimate you receive is a finished product, edited and packaged before it ever reaches you.

At CRS, we walk you through the Roofr process. You see the same screen we’re looking at. Then we walk through every adjustment we make on top of that baseline and explain exactly why.

This isn’t common practice. Most contractors treat the estimating process as proprietary, something that happens behind the scenes before they present you with a take-it-or-leave-it price. We’ve never understood that approach. You’re spending thousands of dollars on your home. You should know what you’re paying for.

That’s exactly the kind of standard we want to operate under.

Here’s the process, start to finish.

How we build your estimate

  1. We come to your property.
Every estimate begins in person. No guesswork from the curb, no ballpark figures over the phone. We need to see your roof, the whole picture, before we put a number in front of you. Anything less wouldn’t be right.
  2. We have a real conversation about what you need.
Before we assess anything, we listen. What’s been happening up there? What are your goals? A straight replacement, an upgrade, a specific concern? Your situation shapes the entire estimate. A roof project shouldn’t turn your life upside down, and it starts with understanding exactly what you’re dealing with.
  3. We assess your roof with absolute precision.
Our team goes up and evaluates everything: existing shingles, decking condition, flashing at all penetrations, ridge, valleys and ventilation. We’re looking for what’s worn, what’s damaged, and what might not be visible from the ground. This inspection is the foundation of an honest estimate, and this is where a lot of contractors cut corners. We don’t.
  4. We generate your estimate with Roofr. And we show you.
We use Roofr, the industry-standard estimating software that virtually every professional roofing contractor relies on. The difference at CRS: we show you the output. You see the same data we’re working from. No wool over the eyes and no manufactured numbers.
  5. We adjust for the specifics of your roof.
Roofr gives us a baseline. However, Roofr can’t find the section of rotted decking, the flashing that needs to be rebuilt around your chimney, or the two existing layers that have to come off before anything new goes on. Every adjustment is documented and explained. The final number reflects your actual roof. Not a theoretical one.
  6. We walk you through every line of the quote.
We don’t hand you a number and wait for a decision. We sit down and go through it together: what each line means, why a specific factor affects the cost, and your options. You leave that conversation knowing exactly what you’re investing in and why. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our Brand Values

Transparency isn’t a feature we added to our process. It’s been part of how we operate since 1977. You’re making a significant investment in your home. You deserve a roofing partner who treats it that way, one who can explain every number, stand behind every line, and deliver exactly what was promised.

We’ve found that when homeowners understand their estimate, the entire project goes better. Clearer expectations, fewer surprises, and a finished roof that everyone can be proud of. That outcome starts with the very first number we put in front of you.

Have a question about an estimate you’ve already received? Call us, and we’ll walk through it with you, line by line. That offer doesn’t have an expiration date.
